The Training Department staffed by accredited trainers at Cerebral Palsy Care runs the following courses:

Induction to Social Care

This covers all the statutory training required by CSCI together with all the basic care elements.
Duration: 3 Days - Cost: £75 / person   Minimum: 4 Candidates

Moving & Handing

This course is for all staff and carers involved in moving and handling.  It fully meets the requirements set out in the Induction Standards. 
Duration: 3 Hours - Cost: £32 / person     Minimum: 4 Candidates
Aims:

1. Understand the basis, structure and function of the spine when       moving and handling
2. Be aware of the basic legislation that governs all moving and handling tasks
3. Be aware of the purpose of risk assessment in relation to moving and handling
4. Use safe moving and handling techniques
5. Use correct moving and handling equipment

Adult Protection Awareness

This course is for all staff and carers who work with elderly and vulnerable adults.  Though discussion, the worker should obtain a better working knowledge of adult protection and what constitutes abuse.  This course provides the underpinning knowledge required for NVQ Z1.
Duration: 3 Hours - Cost: £32 / person   Minimum: 6 Candidates
Aims:

1. To raise awareness of the different types of abuse
2. To raise awareness of the indicators of abuse / neglect
3. To raise awareness of the documentation process
4. To raise awareness of whistle blowing
5. To raise awareness in how abuse can be prevented

Mental Capacity Act

This course assists in the understanding of the framework of the new Act that empowers and protects vulnerable adults who are not able to make their own decisions.
Duration: 3 Hours - Cost: £32 / person   Minimum: 4 Candidates

Food and Hygiene Awareness

This course is for all staff and carers who handle food.
Duration: 2 ½ Hours - Cost: £32 / person   Minimum: 4 Candidates
Aims:

1. Understand the principles of food hygiene
2. Understand how food can be contaminated and describe methods of prevention
3. Understand the reasons for personal hygiene
4. Understand the reasons for good food hygiene with specific reference to legislative requirements

Health and Safety Awareness

This course covers Fire Safety and Fire Extinguishers, Electricity, Accidents, Moving and Handling, Noise and Personal Protective Equipment, Falls, Chemical Safety, Display Screen Equipment, Drink, Drugs and Violence, Health and Safety Law.
Duration: 2 ½ Hours - Cost: £32 / person   Minimum: 4 Candidates

Aim:

1. To ensure all staff are fully up-to-date with regards to their statutory health and safety responsibilities
